At the beginning of philosophy, there are not problems, but unproblematic assumptions. These assumptions are dichotomous distinctions (in epistemology and philosophy of language, for example, the dichotomies of language - world, description - object, being - consciousness, subject - object). It is precisely these assumptions and the consequences they entail that Josef Mitterer clarifies. In contrast to the dualistic way of speaking in the philosophy of our culture, Mitterer develops a non-dualistic way of speaking. As shown in the volume "The Third Philosophy. Critical Contributions to Josef Mitterer's Non-Dualism," edited by Alexander Riegler and Stefan Weber last year at Velbrück Wissenschaft, the potential of Mitterer's critique of dualism is now being tested internationally not only in the field of philosophy but also in areas such as pedagogy, sociology, and more.
