Ludger Honnefelder is a theologian and philosopher. Since 1971, he has taught as a professor of philosophy at the University of Trier, the Free University of Berlin, and the University of Bonn. From 2005 to 2008, he held the Guardini Chair for Philosophy of Religion and Catholic Worldview at the Theological Faculty of Humboldt University in Berlin. Most recently, he served as the Otto Warburg Senior Research Professor at Humboldt University in Berlin. His numerous publications address questions of metaphysics and the philosophy of religion, ethics including applied ethics, as well as the philosophy of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period.
