Whether it was the Swing Youth, Edelweiss Pirates, or various youth groups in Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin, Munich, and elsewhere - between 1933 and 1945, youth groups emerged across Germany that resisted the Nazi regime and instead cultivated their own subcultures. With their own dress codes, songs, and leisure activities, they operated autonomously and self-determined. They did not shy away from direct confrontation with the Hitler Youth and even pushed back against their influence in some areas, using leaflets, anti-Nazi graffiti, and raids on HJ homes - not only in large cities but also in the provinces. For the first time, a book offers a comprehensive overview of the opposition and resistance behavior of young people during the Nazi era. The focus is on self-determined, informal groups that formed based on personal sympathies and cultural preferences for music.
