Product details
With this work, Michael Neuner presents for the first time a comprehensive and systematic overview of the normative and institutional aspects of consumption. The main goal is to develop a theory that explains the conditions under which responsible consumer behavior is possible in the modern economy. The starting point is that responsible consumer behavior depends equally on the characteristics of the individual, the consumption-relevant infrastructure, and the interplay between these two factors. Although there is demonstrable awareness of responsibility in society, this is not adequately reflected in behavior. The cause lies in obstructed conditions of action that systematically hinder responsible behavior. The author highlights deficiencies in the consumption-relevant infrastructure and identifies points of intervention for their elimination.
