In interviews, especially with politicians, there is often a lot of beating around the bush. What are the reasons for this vagueness in language and content? On what levels of communication does this vagueness manifest in the questions and answers of an interview? And what strategies do the interview partners pursue with this? Kerstin Petermann has analyzed German and English interviews with interlocutors from politics, culture, and society. As a result of her study, she formulates statements about semantics and syntax in the interviews, as well as valuable insights for journalistic work.
