Other groundbreaking inventions - banned, ignored, forgotten

Two ships can be seen on the cover. The first, widely used in Europe at the time, is a heavy, complicatedly rigged ship that required many sailors to maneuver. It was built by merchants and had outdated, poorly developed technology. Nevertheless, Europeans used it to conquer continents and colonize empires. The other comes from ancient China. Its sails resemble the wings of birds. It is the king of sailing ships and was built 2000 years before its European counterpart. It could have conquered the world, but the Chinese emperor of the time forbade it.

The machine also depicted on the cover generated far more energy than it needed to power itself. This dream was realized in 1879 and then forgotten.
