In a seemingly idyllic village at the end of the 1980s, the GDR gradually fades away, which had previously been omnipresent and permeated society down to the private sphere. Increasingly, other ideologies emerge, some advocating for freedom, while others are rooted in Nazism. Mimi experiences this as a child; her own family changes and suddenly becomes divided. Her childhood friend Oliver suddenly calls himself Hitler and acts accordingly. He commands the village Nazis until the situation escalates. Manja Präkels describes in her debut novel the downfall of the GDR and the rise of right-wing groups in Brandenburg.
