Wolfgang Müller is regarded as Berlin's elf ambassador - not just since his TV appearances with Jürgen von der Lippe or Pastor Fliege. In "The Elf in the Sleeping Bag," Müller brings figures from Icelandic mythology into the present: We learn about the war between the North and South dwarves, the unsuspecting Scandinavian studies student who abducts an Icelandic elf to Berlin, the Odin chicken that disrupts gender roles, and the gay waterfall nymph from Norway who experiences his coming out in the warm springs of Iceland. The book is complemented by a collection of quotes in which prominent Icelanders express their views on elves, dwarves, and trolls. The paperback edition of "The Elf in the Sleeping Bag" has gone through three print runs. Following the now out-of-print fourth hardcover edition, the revised fifth edition is now being released.
