Wahid Nader, born in 1955 in Bmanneh, Syria, studied chemical and petroleum engineering in Homs. After completing additional studies and earning his doctorate in Magdeburg, he taught for five years in Aleppo before returning to Magdeburg in 1995. Today, Nader works as a lecturer, translator, and writer. He has been writing poetry since the early 1970s. Two volumes of his poetry were published in Damascus and Homs in 1984 and 2000. In 2010, he made his German debut with "Ich weide Sterne auf trunkener Nacht." He has translated works into Arabic, including "Atemschaukel" by Herta Müller, as well as poetry collections by Erich Fried and Daniela Danz.
