Characteristic of the second half of the 20th century are the consistent expansion of the constitutional state with the triumph of constitutional jurisdiction, as well as the Europeanization and internationalization of national states in Europe. The idea of a constitution, which was historically developed for the state, is now also significant for supranational and international organizations; it connects the development of more than two centuries. This volume combines detailed historical studies with systematic considerations and simultaneously provides an overview of the current legal debates in the context of Europeanization.
