Product details

A standard work on postmodern architecture in Vienna. The last 30 years of the 20th century were a time when the buildings of Hans Hollein, Gustav Peichl, and Coop Himmelb(l)au made international headlines, while architects like Hermann Czech, Luigi Blau, and Adolf Krischanitz simultaneously reinterpreted the 'classical' Viennese modernism. From iconic structures such as the Haas House, the Ringstrasse Galleries, or the TU Library to residential complexes in the spirit of Red Vienna - the spectrum ranges from deconstructivism to neoclassicism to radical eclecticism. This book captures postmodern architecture in Vienna in all its stylistic diversity. With over 150 photographs, it presents architectural realities as they appear to the unprejudiced eye - without gimmicks or technical tricks. With a keen sense for the right perspective and the perfect moment, Stefan Oláh's images capture the uniqueness of around 50 different buildings, while also considering the urban context. 50 objects, 150 photographs featuring architectural icons like the Haas House, the Marriott Hotel, and the Ringstrasse Galleries. Accompanying texts by Sebastian Hackenschmidt.
