Product details
"The Holy Russia" is a special work by the French painter and illustrator Gustave Doré (1832 - 1883). Through 477 images, he illustrates amusing depictions and satirical picture stories of the contemporary view of Russia and its inhabitants. Doré is well-known in Germany, as he illustrated the famous Doré Bible and the Brothers Grimm fairy tales in the 1860s and 70s. All images are accompanied by German texts translated from the original by Peter Scher. The Verlag der Wissenschaften publishes historical literature by both well-known and lesser-known scientific authors, making works that have long been out of print accessible to interested readers once again.
