Those who write about fashion cannot escape the contradiction of opposing moods. One is clear, proud, and quite sublime. Swelled by it, we had written the following beginning. Indeed, anyone who writes about fashion would be a fool to think they could contribute even the slightest bit to curing its madness. But why write at all? We must write for future generations, before whose enlightened eyes our current fashion will lie as an incomprehensible distortion on the surface of the past, and to whom we must appear as blind beings devoid of self-awareness. The Publishing House of Sciences publishes historical literature by both well-known and unknown scientific authors. This makes works that have long been out of print accessible again to the interested reader. This book on fashion and cynicism contributes to that.
