Product details
Tal Nitzan's poems are immediately present, yet they resonate with immense spans of time. While the biblical language constantly shines through, it brings themes and the sound of modernity into the present. Terms like hate and enemy acquire a new meaning in her language: suddenly, one feels it is about love, even though it is never explicitly mentioned. Tal Nitzan's poems carry weight - yet in their faith in language itself, they become fluid and light, captivating in their attention to the Other and opening up possibilities to view this Other from new, surprising perspectives. Tal Nitzan is one of the most important poets in Israel. She has translated some of the most significant texts of classical modernism into Hebrew, primarily from Spanish, the language of her childhood. Since 2002, five collections of her poetry have been published in Hebrew.
