Product details
Kant's Critique of Judgment (KdU), published in 1790, both imports and irritates, as it seemingly intertwines heterogeneous subject areas: it discusses aesthetic judgments about the beautiful and the sublime, as well as the epistemological foundations of the experience of living nature, but also surprisingly extensively addresses the proofs of God. This investigation focuses on the question of the thematic unity of the KdU. Unlike previous Kant research, it aims to demonstrate that and to what extent the themes of Kant's third critique—namely aesthetics, teleology, and theology—were closely interconnected even in the pre-critical phase and thus shaped his thinking. This proves that the KdU ultimately addresses the problem of the fundamental trust of finite reason in the world and in itself.
