One cannot help but feel that people generally measure with false standards, striving for power, success, and wealth for themselves and admiring these qualities in others, while underestimating the true values of life. Yet, with every such general judgment, there is a risk of forgetting the diversity of the human world and its emotional life. There are individual men who receive the admiration of their contemporaries, even though their greatness rests on qualities and achievements that are entirely foreign to the goals and ideals of the masses. It is easy to assume that only a minority acknowledges these great men, while the vast majority wants nothing to do with them. However, it is likely not so straightforward, due to the inconsistencies between people's thoughts and actions and the multitude of their desires.
