After nearly nine years of uninterrupted hospital experience, I am presenting my lectures on the therapy of internal diseases to the public at a time when even more extensive works on the same subject have been published. I do this because I am convinced that these compilations written by various authors, despite their excellent treatment, may not always fully meet the needs of the majority of practicing physicians and medical students due to their scope and the inevitably uneven coverage of individual chapters.
