Are transcendence and modern natural science incompatible? Quite the opposite, says Lothar Schäfer: Quantum physics has given us back transcendence and inspires us to understand the world in a completely new way. Behind the material world lies a hidden, spiritual reality; when we bring both into harmony, our lives gain meaning. Thus, physics and transcendence do not contradict each other but form an inseparable unity. Natural science and spirituality are not opposites! In his book "Hidden Reality: How Quantum Physics Leads Us to Transcendence," Professor Schäfer attempts to infer the workings of a divine consciousness in the cosmos from the phenomena of quantum physics. Although, as a theologian, I have reservations about accepting such conclusions, since one cannot directly reach God through physics, I still find it intriguing.
