Erika Krejci (1936-2013) was one of the most important psychoanalysts of our time in the German-speaking world. She became known primarily for her outstanding translations and interpretations of the works of Wilfred R. Bion. Building on Bion's thinking, she creatively and productively explored the earliest psychological transformation processes and their disturbances. Her particular interest was in the central defense mechanisms of ego splitting and dissociation, as well as the resulting narcissistic distortions in personality development.

The posthumously published writings collected here provide interesting insights into the deep structures of postmodern identity formation and simultaneously offer valuable new approaches to their treatment. A comprehensive appendix completes the volume with biographical notes, a bibliography of all her writings, and an index.
