Product details

How do images gain relevance? The basis of the study situated in the space between semiotic and phenomenological theorems is formed by the large-format drawings of the artist Toba Khedoori, who is little known in Europe. The author examines the specific qualities of drawing, focusing on the 1990s and 2000s, and asks: How does an image become a sign?, which allows for contextualization in various social and cultural contexts, possibly evoked, and: How does a sign become an image?, which implies a specific form of attention. The concept of "brisure," as introduced by Jacques Derrida in De la grammatologie, ultimately leads to a dialogue between Khedoori's images and Derrida's texts, opening a space for reflection "in the white of the text-between" / "dans le blanc de l'entre-texte.".
