The Prayer Book of the Benedictines

Many people join in the prayers of the Benedictines. They also enjoy praying Vespers or Compline at home in the evenings. In the ever-same Psalms, their hearts find peace. They feel the power of the ancient prayers.

The Benedictine Antiphonary has been created over many years by Benedictine monks from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, who translated the biblical texts (Psalms and Cantica) anew from the Hebrew original texts, taking into account the singability of the texts in the Liturgy of the Hours.

From the three volumes of the Benedictine Antiphonary, the monks of Münsterschwarzach and many other Benedictines sing daily during their prayer times.

Volume III contains the Psalms, Antiphons, and Hymns with musical notations for the evening prayer times of Vespers and Compline, as well as the Cantica, prayers, and short readings as texts.
