Pain, or rather the relief from pain, is a central theme for many people today. It is much less about physical pain and more about psychological pain: childhood injuries, farewells, losses, as well as feelings of guilt and the longing for forgiveness play a significant role. However, pain is not only a topic of our time. As a fundamentally human sensation, it connects people across all boundaries such as religion, origin, wealth, generation, or world history. When pain is discussed, a language is spoken that is understood worldwide. In this book, the well-known Benedictine monk Anselm Grün and the renowned Islamic author Ahmad Milad Karimi therefore dedicate themselves to the cross-cultural significance, as well as the spiritual dimension of pain. They outline a way to allow pain, but also to overcome it, to reconcile with it, to accept it, and in this way, to find healing.
