This volume reports on the 6th working meeting of the German Society for Atherosclerosis Research, which took place from April 5 to 7, 1992, at the Heinrich Fabri Institute in Blaubeuren. This venue offers the opportunity to meet and stay in the same location, ensuring ideal conditions for an intensive exchange of ideas. During a special ceremony, the society thanked the President of the University of Tübingen, Dr. A. Theis, for the hospitality extended over several years, and especially their long-time sponsor, Honorary Senator Adolf Merckle, owner of Merckle GmbH, for the generous funding of this conference. This meeting was particularly highlighted by its first-time occurrence.
