Crane girder carriers for light and medium-duty crane systems are typically designed as rolled profiles with flat steel rails without horizontal connections. To reduce the significant planning effort, illustrative design diagrams are provided, which simplify the calculation and verification by comparing existing and allowable loads. The graphical representation allows for the evaluation of design parameters and their optimization. All safety and usability verifications required by relevant regulations are included in the design diagrams. The diagrams of the second edition now also include the comparison stress verification for the web connection of the girder, the operational strength verification for girders and welds, as well as a simple design equation for the welds between the rail and the girder upper flange. Practical application has shown that the use of the diagrams and the design and verification equations significantly alleviates the workload for planners and inspectors.
