We hereby present the final volume of our "Mathematics for Computer Scientists." In this volume, we have again made an effort—wherever possible given the more challenging material—to emphasize the algorithmic and constructive aspects. The selection of topics was also influenced by the needs of computer scientists with technical minors; thus, a comprehensive chapter on functions of several variables has been included, which is primarily of secondary interest to the "pure computer scientist." Content: In Chapter VII, numerical questions from linear algebra and analysis are addressed. Following an introduction to floating-point arithmetic, which is only relevant for the numerical treatment of linear systems of equations in Chapter VII, section 2, and for error estimation in the calculation of eigenvalues of tridiagonal matrices.
