A piece above Lake Constance rests the Villa Seewind in the shade of old trees - the childhood home of the four Bender siblings. Carla, Jonas, Miriam, and David have long been living their own lives in different places, far from Lake Constance. Their mother's eightieth birthday is approaching, and they come together for a long weekend at their parents' house to celebrate with many guests. Jonas Bender wants to take the opportunity of this gathering to discuss their mother's future with his siblings, as she has been showing signs of forgetfulness and uncertainty for some time. He is particularly keen on having a conversation with the eldest sibling, Carla, who has so far avoided any discussion. The weekend turns into a time of self-reflection and retrospection for all involved - and in the end, it culminates in a perplexed farewell to the past.
