Julius Meier-Graefe (1867-1935) is one of the most well-known German art writers of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. His particular interest was in Impressionism, about which he wrote numerous monographs on its most important representatives. The book on Vincent van Gogh is among his most successful works, containing numerous illustrations as well as a facsimile of a letter from the painter. This is a reprint of the revised edition published in Munich in 1918.
