In Volume 76, 24 manuscripts are published for the first time, created between 1935 and 1955. All texts prove to be significant additions to the published main writings. It is often observed that Heidegger tested more decisive approaches in his thematic drafts and preliminary studies. More clearly than in the already published essay 'On the Essence and Concept of Physis', he explains in the manuscripts of the first part, which all deal with the question of the origin of metaphysics, that his interpretation of the Aristotelian concept of physis is nothing more than an attempt to 'hear an echo of the original from the essential resonance [of the pre-Socratic physis]'. The manuscripts of the second part address the question of the essence of (modern) science. It becomes evident that the intense engagement with this question was also motivated by the political situation. The manuscripts of the third part date from the late 1940s and early 1950s. The preliminary studies on the question of the essence of technology show which books Heidegger repeatedly referred to in his considerations. The inclusion of essays on 'Technical Existence' can be seen as a surprise.
