Birds have instilled in humans a longing. Their virtuosic song, their artistic way of flying, and their communication with one another have always had a fascinating effect on us. For instance, singing nightingales possess a repertoire of over 200 different verses, harpy eagles have a wingspan of two meters, and sparrows inhabit both measuring stations in the Arctic and Welsh mines 600 meters underground. This is a plea for respectful observation and attentive interaction with an impressive species.
