A woman thinks of the future: Her life would still not be taken for granted today; a hundred years ago, it was revolutionary: Dr. Hope Bridges Adams-Lehmann (1855-1916) broke societal norms and dared to envision the future. Although she was far ahead of her time, she is largely unknown today. This is astonishing, as Hope Bridges Adams-Lehmann was the first woman to pass a medical state examination in Germany in 1880, the first to practice as a doctor in Munich and Bavaria, and in 1896, she wrote a widely published health guide for women as the first female physician. Her vision extended far beyond medicine; she focused on forward-thinking concepts for the coexistence of men and women and a new relationship with sexuality. She attracted attention with a modern hospital concept and a bilingual kindergarten. She was active as an academic.
