Product details

In a Lower Bavarian attic, a unique discovery was made: photo plates from the estate of the photographer Ferdinand Pöschl. The images found here provide fascinating insights into rural life before World War I and offer rare glimpses into the intersection of bourgeois and peasant lifestyles. The Lower Bavarian towns of Hofkirchen and Haimelkofen were the working locations of photographer Pöschl from 1908 to 1914. Here, rare photographs were taken that captured people and tools, everyday and extraordinary events, from carnival celebrations to political gatherings, from working in the fields to Sunday strolls, from weddings to funerals. Commissioned works, postcard idylls, and candid moments reflect the differing perspectives of the bourgeois photographer and the peasant way of life.
