Product details
The Golden Sun is a former mine located on the Taminser Calanda in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Celts and Romans seemed to have been interested in the Calanda and its rock; various finds and scratch marks in old tunnels suggest this. In 1803, master locksmith Vinzens Schneller from Felsberg discovered boulders that had fallen from the Calanda on his property. The blocks were blasted and used for the construction of riverbank reinforcements. In one of the blasted stones, something shiny was discovered, which the Chur pharmacist Georg Capeller recognized as pure gold. Vincenz Schneller was compensated for his find with 70 Graubünden guilders. In 1809, pharmacist Capeller, along with others, founded the mining company "Zur goldenen Sonne.".
