Strabismus, a misalignment of the eyes, can be congenital or develop gradually over time. If covered strabismus glasses do not help, surgery is usually performed, meaning the involved eye muscles are either lengthened or shortened. It is often forgotten that the surgery is primarily cosmetic in nature. It cannot correct an existing disorder in the cerebral coordination of both eyes in a strabismic individual. Without appropriate exercises for the brain, where the dysfunction that causes strabismus has its root, the weaker eye will eventually stray off course again. The author has developed the exercise program presented here from personal experience. He has demonstrated that control over the eye muscles is possible even without surgery. In any case, surgical intervention should only be considered in conjunction with good aftercare, meaning regular orthoptic exercises. The program has already proven effective in practice many times. The goal of the exercises is to restore or improve the coordination and visual ability of the eyes. The concept is quite demanding and is suitable for children aged 12 and older, as it requires a certain level of discipline.
