The summer when everything happened for the first time. Summer 1972 in the Finnish province: When his father falls ill, the 17-year-old narrator is suddenly thrust into responsibility - the carefree days of his childhood are over. Instead of catching crayfish, he spends the summer months building gutters and immerses himself in the previously unfamiliar and often harsh world of adults.
