Jürgen-Oliver Pitz presents a method for controlling a driving simulator that optimizes motion reproduction for a variety of driving situations. He introduces a holistic approach that analyzes and evaluates information from vehicle simulation as well as from the immediate and upcoming vehicle environment. The evaluation of system runtime allows for universal and route-independent use of the motion cueing algorithm. In a representative simulator study with over 40 participants, the author assesses the potential of this approach compared to a reference algorithm and demonstrates the advantages for various application areas.
