In the small Mecklenburg village of Korbitz, old farmers and new settlers are faced with a significant challenge: they are to join the agricultural production cooperative and make their property available to the collective - with dramatic consequences for the small community. In the midst of this, the teacher Joachim Birk must fight for his love from West Berlin and confront the political pressures.
