Recognizing the space, its urban design, and its social structure as a condition for social behavior and social problems is fundamentally important for the fields of urban planning and social work. In an interdisciplinary context, this handbook summarizes the issues of contemporary urban development. It primarily addresses the question of what contribution urban planning and applied social sciences can jointly make to solving the increasingly pressing social problems of the modern city. Against this backdrop, the book aims to bring together social and urban planning professions and develop a common, interdisciplinary concept for both disciplines.
