In modern society, occult and satanic practices and beliefs continue to find acceptance among the population. However, alongside the well-known forms of closed group organizations (lodges, orders), new, open forms have emerged, particularly within media- and music-driven youth scenes. This book focuses specifically on the German Gothic scene and examines, from a synchronous perspective, its group structures, typical habitus formations of group members, as well as the fitting constellations and integration dynamics between the scene and its members. Furthermore, typical forms of community and interpretation patterns prevalent within Gothic culture are related to developments in the sociology of religion.
