This volume brings together and continues the current and extraordinarily heated debate about a political mandate for social work. Few other discourses have polarized social work in recent years to such an extent. The background of this dispute is, on one hand, the globalization of the economy and the increasing number of globalization's losers that comes with it. On the other hand, in light of the upcoming restructuring of the welfare state, there are concerns that this will only lead to cuts that result in a loss of social security. Although in this situation the question of a political mandate suggests a degree of unity in social work, the situation remains divided.
