Andreas Blätte reconstructs the political logic of immigrant associations' access to political decision-making processes from 1998 to 2006, navigating the tension between norms and rational exchange calculations, values, and identity. He analyzes the arenas of migration and integration policy, provides an overview of the field of immigrant associations, and traces the path to integration summits and Islamic conferences. The focus of the analysis is on the resources of immigrant associations—the unevenly distributed potentials between religious and non-religious associations to develop resources in order to gain formal and informal access to politics.
