Heidi Kaspar examines the significance of urban green spaces for their users in this empirical study. The analysis of interviews with park visitors in three selected parks in the city of Zurich reveals the diversity of subjective perceptions and their impact on the use of these places. At the same time, the influence of design on perception and usage is highlighted. The different spatial constructions share the commonality that personal experience is at the center of staying in the city park, while specific functions and activities are of secondary importance. In contrast to tourist experience worlds, city parks are spaces characterized by their everyday nature. This calmness of urban green spaces must be considered in light of the current trend of festivalization in cities.
