The study examines the micro-social and social-psychological consequences of the EU's eastward expansion. It focuses on experiences of disintegration, fears, and perceptions of threat as potential catalysts for right-wing attitudes. Representative studies in Germany and in the border regions of Poland and the Czech Republic allow for an internationally comparative analysis of the situation from the perspective of the affected citizens.
