The debates surrounding employment-oriented gender mainstreaming are situated in a tension between social justice and economic added value. While critics fear the reactivation of patriarchal power structures, proponents view management-oriented gender mainstreaming as an opportunity to elevate the topic of equality. Corporate strategic or "employment-centered" gender mainstreaming can indeed be a key to achieving justice, provided that the resulting exclusions are critically examined. Marina Tomic highlights the potentials and dangers of such contextualized gender mainstreaming in the EU.
