Product details
Despite the numerous studies on media and violence, the extent of violence representation in the non-fictional realm of television reporting has received little attention so far. Thomas Petzold examines the presentation of violence in British, German, and Russian television news using a uniform research design. He demonstrates which representation and interpretation schemes are chosen, how elaborated mechanisms of media conventions are followed, and where interdependencies with the political agenda exist. The author thus presents the first German-language study with empirically secured, internationally comparable results on violence reporting.
