University equality policy is currently situated in the tension between contemporary gender theoretical debates and reform efforts at German universities. This handbook aims to address the increasing complexity of university equality work and contribute to its professionalization. The first part provides theoretical foundations and encourages reflection on insights from gender studies that influence equality policy practice. The second part focuses on the specific areas of responsibility and action options for equality officers at universities. By intertwining theory and practice, the paradoxes of equality policy action are to be productively addressed as challenges.
