The use of new media in higher education has initiated numerous impulse programs and funding activities in recent years. However, the spread of eLearning has fallen far short of expectations. How can eLearning be sustainably and beneficially implemented in an organization? Essential conditions for achieving sustainability include demonstrating pedagogical added value, economic efficiency in resource use, flexibility and efficiency in the design of organizational structures and processes, stable and appropriate technology, as well as targeted shaping of the learning and organizational culture.
