We primarily address teachers and aim to provide them with the resources for new work. Furthermore, we want to gather all people of good will who trust in the nonviolent power of the spirit. (Herman Nohl 1945)

The presented work pursues seven claims:
1. To systematize the existing German-language discussion on intercultural education and draw consequences for the formulation and justification of objectives, as well as for perspectives on the realization of intercultural education;
2. To emphasize and further develop the conflict-oriented approach to intercultural education in contrast to the more widespread and familiar encounter approach, and to connect it with a contemporary concept of general education, of which intercultural education must be a constitutive component.
