The primary theme of this work focuses on an investigation of the internet usage of young people in relation to longer stays abroad. The perspective of the study is directed towards the subjective viewpoint of German youth regarding their experiences, actions, and evaluations. Therefore, I have largely refrained from discussing individual models of intercultural learning or various approaches from media research in detail. The interactions between cultures, as well as those involving the internet, are understood here as processes of social action, whose constitution is constructed through a relationship of mutual influences. From this standpoint, I have chosen not to highlight the phase of youth as a superior developmental stage of human life, as the focus of the investigation lies on action.
