International potentials lead to success

The share of international doctoral candidates at the European University Viadrina is 30%, which is above the average at German universities and is similarly high as in other populous countries such as France, the United Kingdom, or the USA. The European University Viadrina recognized early on that this group of international doctoral candidates represents a significant potential that should be particularly promoted and integrated into a comprehensive internationalization strategy of the university. With the help of a program funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and coordinated by the DAAD, the project "Scientific Competence through Diversity" was initiated at the end of 2007. The goal was to develop joint training modules for international candidates.
