Culture and aesthetics are an important area of education. This volume summarizes the international state of research on aesthetic and cultural education. It addresses not only the realm of formal learning in schools but also diverse approaches such as informal music cultures at festivals, learning instruments, museum visits, and different target groups, as well as theoretical questions in this field, such as the development of indicators or appropriate models of the relationship between personality and aesthetic practice. Against the backdrop of comparative perspectives on Switzerland and Scandinavia, the situation of cultural education in Germany is revealed in a unique way. The immense need for systematic and empirical research on cultural and aesthetic education becomes evident and is articulated.
